Module 1: Understanding Children
You have chosen a course that is all about working and assisting with young children, which suggests that you enjoy being with children and people. You obviously feel that you have the right qualities to be a good Au Pair or babysitter assisting a busy family with the care of their children. This module provides you with in-depth knowledge about the

Module 4: Safety out and about

Module 5: first aid and medical
The first thing is always to check whether a host family has provided you with all important emergency information. Hopefully you will not have to practice what you are going to learn in this module, but accidents happen and it is important to be alert, quick and comforting to the child in case of

- cuts, scrapes and bleeding
- head injuries
- fractures
- bumps and bruises
- burns, bites and stings

Module 7: Self Care and Housekeeping by Au Pair Assist
In this module we look at caring for yourself and some basic tips on housekeeping. Being an aupair usually requires that you live-in with a family for a period of time helping them with their children. Often being an aupair means that you leave your home country or city and go to live with another family in another country or city. Even if you are not living with the family, there are areas that are important to take note of as an Au Pair.
At the end of this module you have a better understanding of the following areas:
- time management
- settling in with the family and building a relationship with the children’s mother
- working conditions for live in au pairs incl. household chores
- using the family’s telephone, computer and other property
- driving
- personal reactions, emotions, getting out of your comfort zone
- general and personal safety in the home and when you are out and about
